Re-activate iMessage on your iPhone

iMessage is a service run on Apple's servers, and the first time it connects it needs to activate and register the Apple ID you're using with the device you're using. The way it does that is by having you login with your Apple ID. If the connection is ever lost for some reason, it may ask you to do it again.

If for some reason it looks like iMessage is stuck on the Activation screen, wait for a few minutes, then try the following, in the following order:

Turn iMessage off and then on again, wait a few minutes
Turn Airplane mode on and then off again, turn iMessage off and then on again, wait a few minutes
Make sure your iPhone is on Wi-Fi, reboot your iPhone, turn iMessage off and then on again, wait a few minutes
Wait and try again later -- Apple's servers can get overwhelmed or experience outages just like anyone else's

If none of that works, jump into our forum and we'll troubleshoot with you.

Once iMessage activates you can send and receive texts and multimedia messages with other Apple users just like SMS and MMS.

Tricks Advanced/Supergeek for iPhone

1. Entering Engineering mode
The iPhone 5 massages its signal bar, to make its reception look better than it really is. Want to know what your reception actually is? You need to use the Engineering mode.  Type *3001#12345#* into the dialler and hit the call button and you’ll enter Field Test mode. This changes the bar-based signal indicator to a “proper” numerical figure. There are also menus to tell you all sorts of other signal information, but most – including us – will be hopelessly lost here.

2. How to Jailbreak your iPhone
In early February 2013, a comprehensive jailbreak for iPhones was released. It’s a program that’ll hack virtually any iOS device running iOS version 6.0-6.1.2. We’ve not tried it yet, but we’re informed it’s dead easy to do and relatively issue-free. To download the jailbreak, check out the evasi0n website. Evasi0n is the team of hackers that made the software.

3. Best Jailbreaking applications
One of the main reasons to jailbreak your phone is to install the Cydia app store, which gives you access to loads of apps that would never make it onto the App Store proper. These include apps that can make big changes to the way your phone works – the jailbreak gives apps much greater access to the iOS system’s roots. You’re given much greater control over how your phone looks and feels, and can install things like game emulators – which wouldn’t be allowed (in their pure form) on the App Store.

4. How to fix the “sticky Home button” problem
One of the most common problems with ageing iPhones is that their Home buttons start to play up. It’s unlikely that many iPhone 5s have started to suffer from this issue, but give it time and the Home button arthritis will probably kick in. If youe Home button starts becoming unresponsive, there are a few solutions. The most drastic is surgery. You can buy iPhone Home button replacement kits online (iPhone 5 ones don’t seem to be available yet), or you can try the software fix.

Start up any pre-installed app (as in an app that’s there fresh out of the box). Then press the power button until the power-off prompt appears. Next, press and hold the Home button to leave the app. This will recalibrate the Home button. Of course, it’ll only solve the issue if it’s a problem of software rather than hardware.

Adjust Your iPhone 5′s Screen Brightness

Adjust Your iPhone 5′s Screen Brightness

Apple gives you the freedom to adjust your iPhone’s screen brightness, so you can set it as high or as low as you want. Although many people set their screen brightness somewhere in the middle, the brighter your screen shines, the faster your battery will drain.

Adjust Your iPhone 5′s Screen Brightness

The iPhone’s Auto-Brightness setting also does a decent job of adjusting brightness based on the ambient light around you, but if you’re willing to set the level lower, you can save more juice. Here’s how to adjust your screen brightness manually  to save crucial battery life.
Navigate to the Settings menu, then tap Brightness & Wallpaper.

Adjust Your iPhone 5′s Screen Brightness

Toggle Auto-Brightness to Off. This will disable Auto-Brightness, so your iPhone 5 won’t automatically adjust based on your surroundings. Instead, you’ll manually set your screen brightness, which will conserve more battery.
Move the slider as far to the left as you can while still being able to comfortably see your screen. In other words, you shouldn’t be straining your eyes. You want to minimize the brightness, but not by so much that you can’t see what’s on your display.

As you move from environment to environment, you may find it necessary to adjust the brightness manually. For example, if you’re in direct sunlight, you’ll need to pump it up to maximum, but if you’re in a dark place, you may be able to get by with the lowest setting.

Battery iPhone 5

Although Apple’s smartphone is meant for multitasking, using your device for email, calls, messaging and various apps can quickly drain its battery dry. Fortunately, there are many ways to extend your Apple device’s battery life. We highlight the most effective ways, and take you step-by-step through the different methods of how to prolong your iPhone 5′s battery life, so you’ll never again be “that guy” who always asks to borrow an iPhone 5 charger.

Battery iPhone 5

Apple gives you the freedom to adjust your iPhone's screen brightness, but putting it on the brightest setting will not only hurt your eyes, but also drain your battery faster. Set your brightness to the lowest level can you stand.
